Preparing for college is an in-depth process that occurs throughout a student’s high school career. The counselors at Elyria Catholic High School assist the students in exploring their career and college options as well as helping them through the college application and financial aid process.
Since 2021 we have partnered with College Now. Our College Now Advisor is on site throughout the year to help students through the college process regarding affordability and scholarships. Please reach out to her to set up an appointment at collegenow@cason-family.net.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) allows students to receive federal aid including grants, loans, and scholarships. Below is a link to the FAFSA website where the application is accessible.

The Common Application is a type of application that allows students to apply to multiple schools through just one application. To find out which schools use the Common Application or to access the application visit: http://www.commonapp.org/For the Common Application and other applications, the counselors may be required to write a letter of recommendation for the student. The counselors require that students fill out the Senior Profile and Resume to assist them in their writing. Remember, the more specific examples the counselors have to write about, the more unique the student looks to the college. Please refer to the following forms to assist the counselors.

College Rep Visit Procedure (junior/senior students):
Juniors and seniors are permitted to attend TWO college informational sessions during class time. Students will be issued a pass by the Counseling Department. The pass must be signed by
the teacher (who reserves the right to deny permission based on discipline, grades, tests, etc)
and be presented at the beginning of the session.
Remember:
Your signed pass is your ticket. No ticket=No admittance
Students are responsible for all missed coursework and homework.
College/University materials will be made available in the Counseling Department for students who
are unable to attend.
You are free to attend sessions during study hall or lunch with a pre-arranged pass issued
by the Counseling Department.
